Community and Conservation Programs

ElizabetLiving Territories: United for the Defense of Nature This program, led by the State Commission of Natural Parks and Fauna (CEPANAF), seeks to protect wildlife and promote environmental awareness in communities in the State of Mexico. Its main goal is to unite government, civil society, and academic efforts to defend ecosystems and promote sustainable environmental development. Participating in this project is a source of pride, as it allows activities in favor of animals. Key actions:
  1. Territory defense and biodiversity conservation: Protects ecosystems and involves local and indigenous communities in decision-making.
  2. Environmental education and awareness: Teaches the population the importance of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices.
  3. Development of sustainable productive projects: Supports environmentally friendly activities such as organic farming, reforestation, and sustainable tourism.
  4. Strengthening community organization: Promotes citizen participation in natural resource management.
  5. Political advocacy and defense of environmental rights: Influences public policies to ensure long-term environmental protection.
Jimena Environmental Fair 2023 This program in Santiago del Valle promotes ecological awareness and the adoption of sustainable habits. Participating was very positive, as reducing water consumption and properly separating waste actively contributes to environmental care. The community’s response was motivating, demonstrating the importance of collaboration. Recommendations:
  1. Reduce drinking water consumption: Vital for life and ecosystems; responsible use conserves this limited resource.
  2. Properly separate waste: Allows recycling and reuse, reducing pollution and landfill waste.
  3. Keep public spaces clean: Prevents pollution and promotes a healthier environment.
  4. Promote environmental education: Informs and motivates sustainable practices.
  5. Participate in community programs: Fosters collaboration and collective responsibility.
AbrilControlled Reforestation with Native Species in Malinalco This program aims to restore forest cover in degraded areas, promote biodiversity, and improve community quality of life through ecosystem services. It involves the local community, fostering collaboration and a sense of belonging, while offering opportunities to learn about ecology and botany. Recommendations:
  1. Reforestation with native species: Helps restore ecosystems, maintain biodiversity, and prevent soil erosion.
  2. Reduce plastic use: Prevents soil, water, and biodiversity pollution, protecting human and animal health.
  3. Water conservation: Water is vital for life and ecosystems; scarcity has serious consequences.
  4. Promote sustainable agriculture: Maintains soil fertility, reduces pollution, and protects biodiversity.
  5. Environmental education and awareness: Inspires the community to adopt sustainable practices and care for the environment.

RosarioBio Malinalco (Biodiversity Conservation) This program promotes biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources, focusing on environmental education. Participation allowed visiting different areas where actions are implemented to conserve biodiversity, understanding the importance of protecting plant and animal species. Recommendations:
  1. Participate in environmental education activities: Raises awareness about the importance of caring for the environment.
  2. Reduce environmental impact: Small changes like reusing plastic, using sustainable transportation, and saving energy help protect the environment.
  3. Collaborate with the community: Working with others promotes sustainable practices and protects natural resources.
  4. Learn about biodiversity: Knowing species helps care for them better.
  5. Support conservation projects: Reforestation and habitat protection help preserve biodiversity.
JazminFundación Comunitaria Malinalco (FCM) The forest culture program raises awareness about the importance of forests, prevents fires, carries out reforestation with native species, and trains community brigades. Participation helped understand the importance of biodiversity and environmental care, increasing awareness of pollution.

Recommendations:
  1. Carry out fire prevention campaigns: Helps avoid devastating forest fires.
  2. Controlled reforestation: Ensures forest recovery in an ecologically efficient way.
  3. Promote community involvement and forest awareness: Fosters a sense of collective responsibility.
  4. Consolidate community brigades: Enables rapid and effective action during environmental emergencies.
  5. Encourage environmental education: Instills values and habits from an early age.
These programs demonstrate that active community participation, environmental education, and biodiversity conservation are essential to protect ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future for all communities.
